Life is Beautiful

Happy New Year UG Readers!

We’ve been a little quiet recently, well completely silent actually but now we’re back....WORD!

With 2011 now officially a member of the past this may of forced many of us into reflection. Hopes and dreams for the future are often the strongest at this time of year but we want to take this opportunity to pull you back from the future and keep you in the here and now. Life is precious and every moment counts. After hearing two tragic pieces of news this evening I feel like screaming at the top of my voice DON’T TAKE ANYTHING FOR GRANTED, APPRECIATE EVERY SECOND OF LIFE!!

Forget New Year resolutions that highlight all the negative areas in your life – you're too fat, too broke, too single etc etc and instead identify and appreciate everything you're thankful for right now. Live every moment of life in awareness and appreciation because there only ever is this moment. Preach Women Preach!  Below are some words to ponder....

  • Live for now is so obvious - but really take in every mundane task, wonder at how amazing it is that you are sat wherever you are able to read this.

  • Don’t waste time in the future or the past there is nothing there for you,  it’s all here and it’s all now.

  • The past cannot be changed or the future predicted what you can alter though is the way in which you think of them both.

  • Make a list of all the great things you already have, for example mine reads – family, friends, health, home and job. Once you begin to acknowledge and appreciate what you have you will want less but get more.

  • When you get worried or anxious ask yourself is there anything actually wrong at this exact moment? RIGHT NOW. Accept whatever situation you are in, whether that is losing your job, your partner or whatever doom is impending upon you. Acceptance is the first step to happiness.

  • Be verbal in acknowledging your appreciation

We will leave you with some of our favourite quotes about life. Enjoy!

Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.
John Lennon
There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfil it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.

Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

No matter what the situation, remind yourself you have a choice.

The present moment is sometimes unacceptable, unpleasant or awful.

It is as it is. Observe how the mind labels it and how this labelling process, this continuous sitting in judgement, creates pain and unhappiness. By watching the mechanics of the mind, you step out its resistance patterns, and you can then allow the present moment to be. This will give you a taste of the state of inner freedom from external conditions, the state of true inner peace. Then see what happens, and take action if necessary.

Accept- then act. Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it, not against it. Make it your friend and ally, not your enemy. This will miraculously change your life

-- Eckhart Tolle
