Alkaline Magic

Acid/ Alkaline- pH Balance & How it Affects Our Health

The human body is alkaline by design. The pH balance (acid - alkaline measurement) in the body is crucial to optimal health. The pH level of our internal fluids affects every cell in our bodies.  An acidic state will negatively impact immunity, hormones, digestion, bone health, the health of our organs, and how cells regenerate. You can experience allergies, food sensitivities, sinus problems, arthritis, headaches, fatigue, behavioural issues and feelings of unhappiness, just to name a few writes the world leader in understanding the effects of pH, Dr Robert Young, author of The PH Miracle revised.

An acidic pH balance diminishes the body’s ability to absorb vital minerals and nutrients. When the body is excessively acidic, vital organs and individual cells would be subject to damage or destruction. Tissues and organs become acidic and take calcium from bones to neutralise acidity – calcium deposits develop in fatty acidic tissues (e.g. the breasts) and bones are ‘shortened’ of calcium resulting in weak/brittle/porous bones. This condition, known as acidosis, causes poor health, chronic illness like cancer, osteoporosis, blocked lymph nodes, and hundreds more! Acidosis can be a cause, an effect, or even a symptom of almost any health condition. The acid-alkaline balance of the body has an enormous impact on a person’s health. Chronic acidity will interrupt all cellular activities and functions - it interferes with life itself.  Young writes that there is only one disease, Acidity and therefore only one cure, Alkalinity.

Acidity is a result of an inverted way of living, thinking and eating so a whole approach to health is needed for lasting benefit.

Almost all foods that we eat, after being digested, absorbed, and metabolised, produce either an acid or an alkaline ash. Fruits and vegetables produce a healthy alkaline ash. But other foods such as meats, grains, eggs, diary, tea, coffee leave a debilitating acid ash which results in disease.

Below are some examples of foods to help control acid in your internal environment:

LIFESTYLE:

Lifestyle has a massive impact on health. All of your thoughts and experiences produce either an acidic or alkaline chemical reaction in the body.

Alkaline: love, hugs, relaxation, sleep, meditation, kindness, gratefulness, exercise, happiness, positive relationships, smiles, laughter…

Acidic: stress, resentment, fear, worry, anxiety, anger, grief, loss, feeling isolated, depression…
