Body Types

Free yourself from unrealistic aspirations to achieve “body beautiful” and embrace what nature gave you. Assessing your body type can help you to develop achievable results in terms of weight reduction, toning and body shaping as well as helping you to identify the most flattering clothing for your body shape and encouraging self-love. Posture, exercise, diet and professional body treatments can change the overall shape of the body but there is one consistent factor and that is body type – which is hereditary. There are three body types:

Mesomorph:
  • Strong with evenly distributed weight
  • Generally has broad shoulders
  • Well-toned muscles
  • An athletic appearance
  • Will have no weight problems while active

Endomorph:
  • Round in shape
  • Higher proportion of fat to muscle
  • Tends to put on weight easily
  • Fat is generally deposited around hips, abdomen, thighs and shoulders
  • Limbs are short
  • Hands and feet are small

Ectomorph:
  • Lean and angular
  • Long limbs
  • Small joints
  • Very little body fat
  • Usually has no natural female curves
  • Lack of muscle bulk

Assess your body type today - I recommend doing this with a friend and assessing each other’s body type in front of a full length mirror (be sure to maintain good posture), or better still – make an appointment with your local beauty salon or gym for a full figure analysis.

“Enjoy your body, use it every way you can…don’t be afraid of it, or what other people think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own”

[Baz Luhrmann Lyrics - Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)].

Come back soon to read part 2 - Body shapes and fashion.
